Flinders Vanilla Slice

This bakery in Cheltenham, Melbourne is famous for its record-breaking vanilla slice, officially recognised by the Guinness World Book of Records as the largest in the world. Witnessing it in person was something else entirely — and tasting it was pure heaven. The perfect afternoon indulgence, though perhaps not the lightest on calories! 😋

Tommy Ruff Fish Bar

We had a wonderful night dining at Tommy Ruff Fish Bar in Mordialloc. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, with a warm, friendly family atmosphere and great service. But what really won us over was the fresh seafood — generous portions that were simply hard to beat."

Tommy Ruff is a unique local seafood experience. Bringing together the fish & chips classics, with a fresh & healthy diverse seafood selection. Beautifully presented service was great love the food.

“If it’s not fresh, quality & sustainably sourced seafood, then it’s not on the menu.”

Mordialloc Pier

Mordialloc is a wonderful food hub along Nepean Highway offering a fantastic multicultural dining scene. But for us though, the fresh and plentiful seafood stole the show .It also features a gorgeous foreshore reserve with a pier, picnic areas, parking, and a beautiful curving promenade that runs from the pier past the lifesaving club. We had to take a walk along the pier to soak it all in — and naturally, more ice cream was in order to finish the night off.

Our Pub Crawl

Mountain Goat Brewery

Great experience as I had not visited a brewery company before so "Mountain Goat has the feel of a well-loved converted warehouse — exposed red brick, high ceilings, wooden furniture, and the hum of actual brewing happening nearby. It's industrial without being cold, relaxed without being rough, and has the kind of unpretentious charm .

You can visit for a beer and a pizza to see where all the magic happens. Mountain Goat has been brewing delicious beers in the back streets of Richmond since 1997. A true pioneer of Australian craft beer and a must-visit for any beer lover in Melbourne! 🍺

Bodriggy Brewing Company

Nice converted warehouse with exposed steel trusses and a semi-transparent roof has vines and lush greenery tumbling down from the ceiling. Lots of natural light giving it an almost outdoor feel even when you're inside.

Thoroughly enjoyed paddle taste testers, Located in Abbotsford.

A taste of Melbourne whilst visiting our son Rhys— here are snapshots from a few of the places we explored along the way. Melbourne's culinary landscape is a world of its own, endlessly varied and full of surprises, with something to suit most budgets. We even managed a pub crawl — definitely fun and entertaining to say the least, though three was definitely our limit. Cheers Rose, Rob & Rhys
